This is philosophy?
Something tells me this line falls under the type of philosophy that sounds smart but doesn't really mean anything. The other kind of philosophy is the stuff that is really profound but sounds simple. Like, for example, Pirates are cool. Really simple, yes, but think about it - Are they really? What kind of Pirates? How are they cool? Why?
More thought provoking than some comment about human nature. I really don't think that quote means anything.

What homeboy was getting at, if you read more than a soundbyte's worth, is that the moral codes of most religions create a slave morality in its followers b/c there is no room for individualism. Of course, he took it to an extreme in his absolute denial of God. And yes, pirates are cool if they're not pillaging you personally. ;^)

As long as they have hooks as hands they are cool. I imagine pirates eating sausages with their hooks would be the best thing to see.

I agree completely with Peemil. I also think they should hang a hat on their hook, and pretend to be a hat rack while saying "I'm a hat rack".
